Reading has been a part of education for a long time, and it gets complex and essential in higher education. In the last two decades, globally, we have seen a significant shift from print to digital media in reading, which the Covid-19 pandemic has further amplified. Reading has been and still is a stressful activity for students, irrespective of the medium. This thesis and project Ally explores onscreen academic reading from the perspective of interaction design. Ally is a desktop application developed to improve interaction and comprehension while studying onscreen. It is a one-stop platform for a student’s academic reading requirements. It is designed to support each step of the process, starting from reading to writing.
